Our readers are no doubt sick of hearing us repeat it over and over again, but this is one of the most important things you can do to safeguard a child with severe food allergies: Make sure they always have two auto-injectors on hand wherever they go, no exceptions.

  1. I carry 2 Epi Pens at all times, and a bottle of Benedryl in my purse at all times. The Drs. told my NOT to take the pills at onset because they take time to activate and dissolve where as the liquid goes immediately into action. This is very important to know. Also at the slightest thought of hives beginning I take the Benedryl so I can head it off before it gets a chance to get worse.
